An Ordinary Girl, Living Life Extraordinary

This is the excerpt for your very first post.

You have the choice. Each day when your eyes decide that you can’t avert the morning anymore and your body rises from your bed. You start your day and you have a choice. You may not get to choose the level of humidity in air or the building in which you will spend your day sitting in, but you get to choose the lens in which you experience and process life. You get to choose your attitude and your actions to what the world around you serves up. You get to be YOU…and which YOU you are is up to you. Today.

I’m no one special. Just a girl with a husband, three feisty youngins, and a cat as her side kick. I live in Kentucky and like to look at the stars in the morning when I walk my kids to the car for school and I like taking a stab at growing produce in the backyard. I’m short and nothing makes me stand out of a crowd except maybe my loud voice; yes, God did bless me with the knowledge of how to use it. And speaking of God, He’s my rock, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that many days I forget to lean on Him.

Nope, I’m just ordinary and not much different than you. Although I’m totally not saying you’re ordinary!

But possibly the one thing that sets us apart is something you can’t see…but maybe you can feel. And maybe you feel it too. It’s not every day, but some days when my littles wake me up in the morning and I start my day, I choose to see the good in the world and be the good for others. Not every day. No, some days I know I wake up on the wrong side of the bed. But throughout the daily journey in life, I try to change my lens and see that even through the mundane or the ordinary, there are tons of extraordinary things to be thankful for.

This is a collection of my thoughts, my experiences. My promise to you is that it’s real. That I’m real. And that maybe we can see the positive in this world that God gave us a limited time on together. But we have a choice to make. We can be the good if we make the conscious effort. It’s not easy. I fail daily. But I don’t give up. I won’t, and I hope you won’t either.

So… let’s try to color today pretty. You in with me?
